How to Fix: Windows 10 Drive Letters Missing in Explorer

" Dear Dennis,
I just upgraded to Windows 10. When I click on 'This PC' from the Start menu, my drive letters are missing from Windows explorer. Previously, I was using Windows 7, and when I clicked on My Computer it would show the C drive (my hard drive), and D, E, and F drive which are memory card slots. Why are my drive letters missing from explorer in Windows 10? Is this a feature I can change? "
My response:
Sometimes when you do a major upgrade from one operating system to another, settings from the previous operating system get misconstrued and weird things happen. In this case, it sounds like your "Show drive letters" via the "Folder and Search Options" menu has been changed inadvertently.
How to Fix: Windows 10 Drive Letters Missing in Explorer
If your drive letters are missing from Windows Explorer, you can change it back by doing the following:
- Click Start, then click on "This PC".
- A Windows Explorer window will appear with the title "This PC". On the top left of the window, go to the "File" menu, and click "Change folder and search options".
- The "Folder Options" window will appear; click the "View" tab near the top. Scroll down the list of options until you see "Show drive letters" and place a check mark beside that option.
- Click Apply, then OK, then go back to the "This PC" window. Your drive letters should now be displayed in Windows Explorer.
I hope that helps.
