MS Windows Profits Take Unexpected Dip in 2011

Microsoft has just revealed that Windows was not its leading money-maker during the last three months of 2011. While this is shocking news to many, it may be only a short-term quirk, and, generally speaking, Microsoft continues to rake in the cash. ... Microsoft Posts Record Sales Year

Microsoft has posted record sales for fiscal year 2011 based on strong showings for its Office software suite, server programs, and Xbox 360 video game console. It's a somewhat surprising result, given that Windows sales had actually started to ... decline. According to reports, for the fiscal year ending in June Microsoft amassed $69.4 billion in total revenue, a record high and an increase of 12 per cent compared to fiscal year 2010. Facebook 2009 Revenue Tops $800 Million: Report

According to a recent report, it appears Facebook had a very, very good year in 2009. It seems the social networking site saw revenue climb $100 million over its revenue plateau for 2008, reaching a figure listed at $800 million. Reuters cites ... unnamed sources in its report. These same sources also note Facebook net profits in the tens of millions of dollars, although more specific figures have not been made available. Apple Rakes in 47% of October Desktop PC Revenue: Report

Apple fanboys are bursting with pride this morning after a report emerging yesterday found that of all retail desktop revenue in the U.S. during the month of October, almost half went towards Apple -- a rather large jump over the previous year. ... MS Revenue Q4 Takes Pounding: Down 29% 1 Year Ago

As hype builds for its upcoming Windows 7 operating system, Microsoft continues to face declining revenue in all five of its major markets. Just last week, the Redmond-based company reported miserable results for its fiscal fourth quarter. For the ... quarter ending June 30 Microsoft announced an incredible decline of 29 per cent from last year, with profits of $3.05 billion.
