Microsoft Still Pushing Edge Browser Hard

Microsoft has confirmed it is blocking third party tools designed to overcome several ways it pushes people towards the Edge browser. It affects tools such as EdgeDeflector which works on Windows 10 and 11. The tools take aim at the way Windows and ... some built-in Microsoft applications use links to web pages. Once Edge opens with the page in question, it also displays a request to set Edge as the ... (view more)

Internet Explorer Finally Heading for Exit

Internet Explorer 11 users will start losing access to Microsoft 365 this week. It's the latest step towards the browser being phased out altogether. Rather than buy a one-off edition, ... users pay an annual fee and will always have access to the latest versions of tools such as Word and Excel. That's because Microsoft 365 works online rather than the bulk of the software being installed and running on the user's hard drive. Internet Explorer 11 was released in 2013 and became the default browser for Windows 8.1 and earlier. It was ... (view more)

How to: Place Microsoft Edge Shortcut on the Desktop

Infopackets Reader Susan K. writes: " Dear Dennis, I recently upgraded to Windows 10. When my computer booted into the desktop for the first time, I immediately unpinned the Windows Store and Microsoft Edge icons from my taskbar; the reason being is ... that I prefer to have my taskbar completely empty and reserved only for running tasks.
