New Lenovo Laptop Features 17-Hour Battery Life
Looking for a laptop with battery life that lasts throughout the work day and all evening? Lenovo's new ThinkPad T440 uses dual batteries to achieve that feat.
The 14-inch ThinkPad T440 comes in two versions -- the base T440 and the premium T440s. The former starts at just $899 and is available with Windows 7 or Windows 8.
New ThinkPad Features Next-Gen Hardware Specifications
The T440 weighs in at 1.76 kilograms, making it one of the lightest sub-$1,000 laptops on the market. For extra cash buyers can upgrade to a 1600 x 900 touchscreen display.
The T440s, meanwhile, starts at just over $1,100 and, at 1.54 kilograms, is a bit lighter than the T440. It too can be purchased with a touch or non-touch screen and buyers will have their choice of installing Windows 7 or Windows 8.
The biggest difference between the T440 and T440s may be those touchscreen displays: while the T440 is capped at a resolution of 1600 x 900, the T440s comes with a 1080p screen. (Source: laptopmag.com)
Both versions of the T440 are also very powerful. They run on Intel's new Haswell processor (which is designed to conserve power and prolong battery life) and can be equipped with a solid state drive and up to 12GB of RAM.
There are also a wide variety of ports here, including HDMI, VGA, USB 3.0, and Ethernet.
Dual Batteries Combine for 17-Hour Battery Life
But what's really getting people excited about the T440 and T440s is the battery life available on these models. Both have an internal 3-cell battery that can be augmented with an attachable 3- or 6-cell battery.
Together, the 3-cell internal battery and 6-cell attachable battery can extend the T440 / T440s battery life to a pretty incredible 17 hours.
Although experts have yet to validate that claim, such battery life could allow someone to start their fully-charged and unplugged ThinkPad at 6am and shut it down at 11pm without ever having to touch a power cord.
It's expected both the T440 and T440s will make their way to retailers in late October 2013. (Source: pcworld.com)
