Special Windows 8 Pro Student Rate Revealed

Microsoft's promotional pricing for its new Windows 8 operating system (OS) has come to an end. However, the company has announced that, starting February 1, 2013, students in the United States will have access to a special Windows 8 upgrade rate.

Microsoft on Wednesday announced that the deal will allow students to purchase the Windows 8 upgrade edition for just $69.99. Students can access the bargain by visiting the Microsoft Store.

Windows Campus Tour to Visit 150 Universities

To promote the deal, Microsoft says that, starting February 18, it will be kicking off a Windows Campus Tour. That will take company representatives to university campuses across the United States, with Windows 8 being shown off at an estimated 150 different institutions.

Microsoft says that the tour will involve company representatives encouraging students to give Windows 8 a try on several different types of devices, including tablet computers, laptops, and desktop PCs.

Students will also have the opportunity to learn more about the OS by talking to "a team of Techsperts." (Source: thenextweb.com)

As has been the case in the past, the deal will only be available to people who can demonstrate that they are a student or staff / faculty member at a recognized university.

Microsoft says that those people who meet the requirements can buy up to five copies of Windows 8 Pro.

Microsoft Rolling Out Deal to 49 Other Countries

Finally, don't fret if you're not a US-based student. Microsoft says that it will roll out similar deals to students in 49 other countries by March 19.

For example, Canadian, British, French, and German students will get access to the deal by February 21, while Israeli, Malaysian, and Mexican students will have to wait until mid-March.
