Adult Content Coming to Xbox 360 Via Internet Explorer
As Microsoft prepares for the debut of Internet Explorer on the Xbox 360 video game console, it's also gearing up for the first time release of adult video content on the popular gaming device.
An adult entertainment site is planning to take full advantage of the Xbox 360's upgrade to web browsing capabilities.
According to the company's online blog, Xbox 360 gamers can "rejoice" because "you can now tap into and stream all of your favorite free [adult] videos right from your Xbox!"
Gamers Targeted in Illicit Ads
Additional messages from the site have been specifically crafted to appeal to people who use the console for gaming.
"Whether you're...annihilating Bullymong in Borderlands 2 or taking the [New Orleans] Saints deep in Madden NFL 13, you're never more than a few simple controller clicks away from [adult content]," the ad reads. (Source: digitaltrends.com)
None of the adult material will require installation of any special application.
Instead, it will be available via Microsoft's standard web browser, Internet Explorer, which the software giant will add to the game console as part of this fall's major dashboard update.
The Xbox software update will also integrate Microsoft's 'SmartGlass' technology, allowing users to navigate Internet Explorer and the Xbox dashboard remotely using their Windows Phone. (Source: ibtimes.co.uk)
Microsoft Acknowledges Adult Content Available Soon
In a recent statement, Microsoft did not deny that adult content would soon become available on the Xbox 360. However, the company did stress that it was adding only Internet Explorer to Xbox Live and not individual adult content providers.
In other words, Microsoft says it's adding Internet Explorer so people can surf the web on their Xbox 360s. In no way is the company encouraging visits to adult-oriented websites.
Microsoft also noted that adult Xbox 360 users have the option to turn off this feature. Access to Internet Explorer for all child accounts will be blocked by default.
