How Do I Export My Address Book Contacts?, Part 3
A little while back I was asked how to copy Address Book contacts onto another computer. Roberta C. asked:
" Could you tell me if there is a way to copy my contacts in Outlook Express and load them onto another computer? "
I provided a solution (complete with pictures) which details how to use the Export function in the Address Book:

Unfortunately, the Export function appeared ghosted (non-functional) for some folks, so I asked Infopackets Readers to send me their thoughts for an alternate solution:

V.J. Heins suggested copying the Address Book file to removable media (such as a Floppy Disk) and then Import the file using the method I discussed in February 26th's issue of the Gazette.
In fact, many users suggested something similar to this method:
- Load the Address Book from Program Menu: Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Address Book
- Select the Help menu
- Select 'About Address Book'
- The path leading to the Address Book (.WAB file) will be displayed.
- Highlight the complete path and file name using your mouse.
- Right-click over top of the highlighted text, and select Copy from the dialogue menu.
- Next, click Start -> Run, and type in "explorer" (no quotes) This will open a new Explorer Window.
- In the address bar of the Explorer Window, right-click the mouse and select Paste. This will paste the filename and path into the Address Bar. Do not press Enter on your keyboard yet. Example: C:\Documents and Settings\WubbaDucki\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\WubbaDucki.wab
- Remove the .WAB filename from the path, and then press Enter on your keyboard to go to the folder containing your .WAB file. Example: C:\Documents and Settings\WubbaDucki\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\
- In the Address Book directory, Right-click over top of the .WAB file and select Copy from the dialogue menu.
- Next, Double left-click My Computer on the Desktop.
- Choose the Floppy Drive (or any other removable medium) to copy the .WAB file.
- Right-click over top of the desired medium (ie: Floppy Drive) and select Paste from the dialogue menu.
- Follow the instructions in the previous newsletter on how to Import the file using the Address Book program onto another computer: How do I export my Address Book contacts?
