Free TTF Font packs?, Part 3
Continued ...
Die-hard Infopackets Reader Pippe1949 suggested FontAge.com, which has categories of fonts, including: "standard printing fonts, elegant, useful for headlines, plus weird and wonderful".
Ed R. and a few others suggested an email font group.
" I belong to a free Fonts Group. The owner of this group sends out a .ZIP file [full] of free fonts to all members about once a week. You may want to check with the list owner before announcing his group to your list or he might be overwhelmed by thousands of applications. "

Howard R. from Fortaleza, Brazil suggested using Usenet newsgroups:
" Dennis: Maybe you should [write an article on the] Usenet Internet Newsgroups? Alt.binaries.fonts will have all the fonts you need: and all you can eat! I [would recommend that your readers try] Forte Free Agent [to use Usenet]. [And of course, warn your Readers about] the standard precautions about Viruses and Trojans [on Usenet]. "

Side note: Howard R. brought up a good point: always take caution when downloading files off the Internet, especially from newsgroups and file sharing programs. Have a virus scanner installed on your system and ensure that its definitions are up-to-date. If you need a free virus scanner, be sure to download my report on "How to Stop Hackers and Viruses from Malicious Intent.
RE: A quick way to view all those downloaded fonts
Eric B. sent me a link to a free font management program which can quickly display all fonts installed on a system. The web site reads, " Xplorer Lite is ... [a] font viewer program ... [which allows you to] see how each installed font looks, so it's very easy to compare fonts ... [you can] unload, uninstall, copy, move, delete fonts ... works with TrueType fonts only. "

How is a font installed to Windows, anyway?
If the fonts are compressed (Winzip, Winrar, Winace, etc), you'll have to unzip them (all) to a temporary directory. If you don't know how to uncompress a file, I've written an eBook and made a video on it.
Once the fonts are unzipped, simply copy them to your Font directory (either C:\windows\fonts, or C:\winnt\fonts depending on what version of Windows you have installed). The fonts will now appear as part of your Word Processing application (or anything else that uses TTF fonts).
Alternatively, Microsoft suggests installing TTF fonts via the Control Panel, but this method definitely has more steps than what was just mentioned above:
