Server Upgrade Imminent
I'm going to break away from our regular genre of discussions held in the featured article section of the newsletter and take this opportunity to inform Readers of a few things happening with our web site.
Issue #1: Problems receiving email
The Netsky email virus is causing all sorts of havoc -- especially for our main server.
Before delivering the newsletter to our Readers, I always send out a few test messages to my own email accounts to ensure that things are in proper order. Unfortunately, some of the test mailings never made it through the mail queue on our main server. Subsequently, there is strong reason for me to believe that I have also missed out on a number of suggestions sent in from Readers concerning Tuesday's Visitor Feedback question.
To remedy the situation, I wrote a web script which bypasses the email queue and places greetings from Readers directly into my Inbox. Unfortunately, the program I wrote wasn't complete until shortly after Tuesday's newsletter had already finished sending out to our subscriber base (using the dedicated mail server).
If you sent me a suggestion yesterday for a freeware envelope printing program and you *did not* use our online form to do so, please take a moment to re-send your message by accessing the new 'contact page' here.
Thanks in advance!
Issue #2: Web Server Upgrade
The email dilemma I just discussed is directly related to the same problem which has been plaguing our main web server for the past few months. It is also the reason why I recently held a 'fund raiser' so that our web server could be upgraded and protected against future exploits.
The good news is that the majority of funds have been collected and will be transferred (electronically) into my account within the next few days. As soon as the funds are physically available, I will put in the 'final order' to upgrade our server.
On that note, I would like to take a moment to say 'Thank you' once again to those who were generous enough to make a contribution. Without your support, our web site would not be what it is today!
